St. Nicholas Youth Programs

Sunday School

The purpose of Sunday School is to teach children to live their Orthodox faith. Children, grades Pre K through high school, participate in the Divine Liturgy, receive communion, and attend their respective Sunday School classrooms.

St. Nicholas Athletics


Our coaches emphasize sportsmanship and character-building above all else, teach the game, and stress the fundamentals.
The basketball program is open to youth ages twelve through nineteen. The season starts December and continues through May. Everyone plays!


The St. Nicholas volleyball team consists of GOYA youth. The playoffs in Pasadena, hosted annually by St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, and held usually in mid-June.

Greek Dance Program

The St. Nicholas Church Dance Program is an award winning ministry which celebrates faith, dance, and music and lifts up the ties between the cultural and spiritual values of our Greek Orthodox tradition.

Altar Servers

All young men who feel called to offer service to the Church and are between 5th and 12th grade are welcome to join the altar boy ministry. These young men are given the opportunity to grow in the knowledge of their faith and the worship of the Church while they offer thanks to God through their service. Altar boys dedicate themselves to assisting in the Divine Liturgy on Sunday s and all major feast days.

St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival

The Oratorical Festival offers junior high and high school students the opportunity to write and deliver religious speeches to local, regional and national audiences each spring through this dynamic ministry of our Archdiocese. Throughout the course of the year, children develop a deeper knowledge of their Orthodox faith, gain valuable training in public speaking, and grow in confidence and leadership ability.

Junior Orthodox Youth

JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth) serves St. Nicholas’ youngest age group (grades 3rd- 5th) by reinforcing the scriptural lessons and Orthodox traditions taught at Church and in the home. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at our Youth Night events at 6:30PM in the GYM.

Greek Orthodox Youth of America

GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America) endeavors to make our Orthodox Faith and Traditions real in the lives of our youth through fellowship activities, thoughtful discussions, worship services and outreach opportunities. Meetings consists of scripture based lessons, guest speakers, outings and social events. Because the span from 6th to 12th grade is filled with Different life experience and questions, we offer both a Jr. GOYA (grades 6th- 8th) and Sr. GOYA (grades 9th-12th)

The groups met on the first Tuesday of every month for our Youth Night events at 6:30PM in the GYM.
